The math jester was lucky enough to catch the total solar eclipse with his family. It was cloudy, cold, and surreal. Here are some low-res pictures from the event:
More photos may be uploaded later. Stay tuned!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! After much hard work and testing, I have completed a new web game that foreshadows my upcoming articles about Combinatorial Algorithms. Check it out here: the Permutations Web Game.
A few months ago, I received the Librem 5 phone and wrote a review of it (one of several private blog posts!). That review is now public: The Quest for a Good Cell Phone.
Happy Veteran's Day. I have a news update to share: the CEO of Stack Overflow recently gave an interview with DevClass in which he described some very interesting problems with the site. The conclusion of the article has now been updated with the CEO's comments.
I have two updates today:
How I Broke My OS This Week has a new entry: Episode II. Check it out.
You may want to re-check the Cybsersecurity Section of the Lab, there are some interesting new links articles to be found there.
Challenge 002 has been added, both to the Challenges page and to the RSS news feed. Can you solve it?
Happy Labor Day! Now announcing the newest addition to the Laboratory: the C++ Dialogues. These currently link to articles from Jim Hyslop and Herb Sutter, plus a conversation with experts on IRC.
A basic framework for the Hanja of the Week has been added, in the interest of testing and expanding our multi-lingual knowledge.
Improvements are pending, e.g. having it automatically update at a fixed time every week.
The redesign is largely finished.
Starting today, the website is undergoing a redesign inspired by Zunethia's suggestions.
Special thanks to Fish 님 for solving the retrieval errors in the math jester's super-secret database. (Yes, this is real.)
The math jester has established a new channel to use on YouTube: The Math Jester
The Math Jester is now accepting submissions for logo designs! Send a logo design through email or through YouTube to qualify.
You know what I should add? A Unix-like terminal! Everything is better with a Unix terminal.
An RSS feed is in development, but the automated scripts need to be rewritten or revised. Should you decide to use this, note that the current format is experimental!
BUG: the Hanja dictionary currently in use contains simplified characters in addition to traditional characters!! I will have to develop a way to select traditional characters only, or at least display both variations of the chosen character.
The Math Jester is dedicated to offering original math puzzles to high-school students and anyone else who's interested. Check challenges to view all the published challenges and laboratory to explore a unique learning center, with lessons on pure and applied topics!
